By downloading, installing, or using SmartSplitter (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including visitors, registered users, and premium subscribers.
SmartSplitter is an expense-splitting and financial tracking application that allows users to track shared expenses, split bills, and manage group finances. The Service is available as a mobile application (iOS and Android) and web application. SmartSplitter does not process payments — it facilitates coordination between users for payment through third-party services.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you represent that you have parental or guardian consent to use the Service.

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
Free tier: SmartSplitter offers a free tier with basic features at no cost.
Premium subscriptions: We offer paid Premium and Premium Plus subscription tiers that unlock additional features. Subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis as selected at purchase.
Billing: Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Free trials: If a free trial is offered, it will be clearly communicated. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged the applicable subscription price.
Cancellations and refunds: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain access to premium features until then. Refunds are subject to Apple App Store or Google Play Store refund policies.
Price changes: We reserve the right to change subscription prices with reasonable advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
The Service allows you to enter and store content such as expense descriptions, group names, and notes ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content. By using the Service, you grant SmartSplitter a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and display your User Content solely to provide and improve the Service.
You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws. We reserve the right to remove User Content that violates these Terms.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.
The Service, including its design, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by SmartSplitter and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission. SmartSplitter grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
SmartSplitter does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We are not responsible for the accuracy of expense calculations — users should verify all financial information. SmartSplitter is not a financial advisor, bank, or payment processor.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SMARTSPLITTER AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SmartSplitter and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion, with or without notice. You may terminate your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
